Just because you need to know I've got what it takes...
Registered Nursing Diploma-1982-Aberdeen Hospital School of Nursing
I lived in a female-only residence here and the only day my Dad could visit was on move-in day. Some of the best memories happened at the good ol' Aberdeen. I proudly wore my black band, prior to caps being cast aside in the early eighties. My mother, Myrna, graduated from here in 1959 and my youngest sister, Tara, in 1992.
Bachelor of Nursing Degree-1986-Dalhousie University School of Nursing
Master of Arts in Health Education and Health Promotion-1989-Dalhousie University Faculty of Recreation, Physical Education, and Kinesiology
Because every student should experience university life in Halifax at least once. I did it twice and Halifax is still one of my favorite cities.
PhD in Nursing-2008-University of Alberta Faculty of Nursing
I always wanted to go back to school. I love teaching and learning and had a curious mind--particularly about how we make decisions in health care and how they do (or don't) help patients and clients. I'm still curious about that.
MFA Creative Nonfiction- 2019-University of Kings College at Dalhousie University
I just can't get enough of school. I wanted to be a better writer and write for the general public in a more accessible manner than most academics do. When I saw this low-residency MFA program at Kings I knew it was exactly what I was looking for!
Through my well funded research program at the University of Alberta I published as an author or co-author in high impact scholarly journals such as Medical Decision Making, Social Care in the Community, International Journal of Nursing Studies, and Advances in Nursing Science to name a few. Links to some select manuscripts coming soon...adding all these links takes time away from my writing :-)
Available on request. A pdf for download will be available soon.
